◆ WHY THIS EXISTS
Paralegals do most of the volume work in a Texas civil practice — intake, document review, citation lookup, calendaring, first drafts of routine forms. Generic AI tooling either gives them everything (UPL exposure) or gives them nothing (you pay for an expensive seat to do clerical work). Neither is correct. FIRMS gives paralegals the tools that aren't the practice of law, blocks the ones that are, and routes everything they produce through a supervising attorney's approval queue. That queue is the supervisory record under Tex. Disc. R. 5.03.
◆ WHAT PARALEGALS CAN DO
- Intake forms — client questionnaires, conflict checks, engagement-letter prep.
- Document upload + ingestion into the firm corpus.
- Citation lookup — Texas case-law, statute search, Bluebook formatting.
- Calendaring — deadline calculation by court rule, conflict checking.
- First-draft of routine forms — notices, certificates of service, discovery responses, affidavits, exhibit indexes, deposition summaries.
- Submit drafts to attorney via
paralegal.draft.submit— drops into the supervising attorney's approval queue with diff view + one-click sign-off.
◆ WHAT PARALEGALS CANNOT DO
- Generate causes of action. Drafting causes of action is the practice of law and is locked to attorney seats. The model refuses; the route handler refuses; the UI hides the control. Three layers of no.
- Send filings (
filing.send). - Pull opposing-counsel intelligence briefs.
- Export final documents bearing the firm letterhead.
◆ THE APPROVAL QUEUE
Every output a paralegal generates is queued, not delivered. The supervising attorney sees:
- The original prompt and source documents the paralegal used.
- The draft itself, marked as paralegal-generated.
- Diff view if the paralegal regenerated or edited.
- One-click
attorney.approval.signto release. - Reject + comment workflow if the draft needs more work.
The queue itself is the supervision record under Tex. Disc. R. 5.03. Defensible against UPL claims and malpractice carriers ask for it explicitly.
◆ PRICING
Paralegal seats price below attorney seats. A 1-attorney + 2-paralegal shop pays less than three attorney seats — typically the SOLO + 2 PARALEGALS bundle at $665/mo. See full pricing.
